BIOGRAPHY

Since 1996 Chéjere has been performed every year at the National Encounter of Jaraneros in Tlacotalpan, Veracruz.

Chéjere also performed in the Cumbre Tajin Festival 2005; the Mejorana Festival in Guarare, Panama 2001; the “Cante de Poetas” Festival in Malaga, Spain 2003; and in many others festivals in Mexico City.

They were award winners of the grant offered by the Mexico City government under the “Artes por todas partes” program in 2004. In 2005 Chéjere released his first album “Chéjere con son”.The band also supports the development of the Mexican traditional music with concerts and workshops of jarocho´s musical instruments execution and regional dance. In addition to this, they are interested in popular culture and ethnomusicology investigation.

Most recently, Chéjere was one of the bands selected to perform at The Third Performing Arts Encounter of Mexico: Gateway to the Americas 2006.
